			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><a href="http://www.safewaytms.com.au"><b>Traffic management</b></a> techniques are provided to answer problems that plague traffic on a road network. There are many instances which make traffic management a necessity.  It may, for example, be a bad accident record or the concerns of residents that prompts an investigation. They may be decided upon by the council to cover just a particular area, or to be implemented in the entire locality. This may entail identifying a road that causes major bottlenecks with flow through consequences, affecting an entire network of adjoining roads. Generally, all such efforts are implemented to achieve these following objectives:</p>
<p>	*To achieve safe movement by reducing accident levels. </p>
<p>	*To create favorable situations for developing the public transport system. </p>
<p>	*To lessen air pollution by preventing the concentration of too many vehicles at a given time on a certain road or area.</p>
<p>	*To seek equitable levels of mobility and accessibility for all groups of people, particularly for those presently disadvantaged in mobility terms i.e. people with disabilities, children, parents with prams, the old and the infirm.</p>
<p>	*To reduce the impact of commuter parking.</p>
<p>	*To protect the rights and welfare of pedestrians. </p>
<p>	*To promote cycling. </p>
<p>Many traffic measures require the publication of a formal Notice in the press. Comments will be accepted for 21 days after the publication of such changes. Whatever comments from the community are submitted will be studied and considered before the laws backing such methods are enacted. As the traffic policy making body, the Council will see to it that such rules are implemented accordingly by deploying the proper enforcing agencies, that may or may not be under its direct supervision.</p>
<p>Examples of Traffic Management Measures </p>
<p>Considering that there are many problematic scenarios to address (as no traffic issue is the same), a common solution in traffic management is not possible.  Here are some examples of the many solutions that can be applied.</p>
<p>Physical Speed Controls</p>
<p>These are a form of speed control hump which are wide enough to allow a wide wheelbase vehicle to pass unhindered. Road humps, for example, fall under this category. Thus cars are slowed, whereas large vehicles like buses and trucks are generally unaffected. These are intended to overcome the objections of the Emergency Services and Bus Companies. After all, the majority of speeding cases involve these cars.  Road humps have been proven more effective than speed limit signs.</p>
<p>Temporary Barriers and Throttles</p>
<p>Throttles and moveable barriers such as chicanes aim to limit speed at certain points of the road.</p>
<p>	*Chicanes provide a simple mechanism that forces automobiles to decrease speed.</p>
<p>	*Throttles narrow the road, frequently to provide a safe crossing point for pedestrians, sometimes in conjunction with a speed table.</p>
<p>Kerb Build Outs</p>
<p>Cars parked on the roadside can block the sight of road intersections Building out the kerb onto the roadway can help solve this problem.Consequently, these help prevent smashes at the intersection. Pedestrians are similarly protected, have more space to stand and can also see and be seen better. These also prevent cars from parking too near to the intersection.</p>
<p>Road Width Constrictions</p>
<p>Constricting the roads consequently limits the access of larger vehicles (such as trucks), from using portions of a route. This is implemented by putting large posts on the road, giving notice to the drivers and preventing these larger vehicles from physically fitting on the road. However, these must only be installed after other roads have been provided to enable the affected trucks to take detours, while preventing the trucks from passing through areas meant for private residents.</p>
