Are you new to the paladin class in World of Warcraft? Once you hit level 10, you’re going to have to choose a paladin leveling build. If you don’t know what you’re doing, its easy to choose the wrong tree, so let’s take a look at them.
Paladins looking to fill the role of healer should look at the Holy tree. The focus of the holy tree revolves around your healing abilities, with increases to your mana efficiency and buffs as well. The Holy tree is mainly aimed at support, though you will get a few small damage buffs. Generally, it is the worst tree for solo players, but if you like to group, you should be able to get groups very quickly.
Protection is the next tree we’ll discuss. The talents in Protection focus on boosting your tanking abilities, increasing your threat building and your mitigation. While you will see quite a damage boost from following the Protection line, it is mostly reflective, dependent on enemies hitting you. Protection is usually considered to be a superior tree for soloing in comparison to Holy, and is equally capable of finding groups quickly.
The final tree for paladins is Retribution. Retribution, as the name implies, is focused on making you an instrument of holy vengeance. While most of the talents focus on damage dealing, there is a small focus on increasing your versatility and mitigation. Retribution is the best tree for soloing by a wide margin, but has a much harder time getting groups due to having to compete with more classes for the damage dealer spots in the group.
If you have a paladin leveling guide, they most likely will steer you towards Retribution. That said, if one of the other specs suits you better, don’t be afraid to try it.
